The Computer Technologies
Institute of Zamboanga City (COMTECH) Inc. was founded by Dr. Cleofe Carmelita
C. Cajucom. It has grown from two computers to two laboratories; from three to
over thirty employees; to satellite labs in other public and private schools in
and out of the city and a branch in Isabela City. A humble tertiary institution
which she conceptualized, built and established with her sole human effort and
a strong but quiet confidence with the Most High; specifically intended for the
middle-class, the low-income, and the I.T. Skills enthusiasts, which aims to
develop itself into a Center for I.T. Excellence in Region IX A well-accredited
Tertiary Institution with Diploma of Excellence in Information Technology and a
well-balanced system of education, this her brainchild, Comtech Institute, is
situated at the Baliwasan Chico, Zamboanga City and a branch in N. Valderrosa
Street, Isabela City, Basilan Province.
Dr. Cleofe Carmelita C. Cajucom is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of COMTECH, INC. and THE
MARIAM SCHOOL OF NURSING, INC.
In her prime years, right
after her graduation from the University of Santo Tomas with a degree in
Psychology, she was tapped to hold a teaching position and held chairmanship
positions of most institutional events while pursuing her graduate studies and
working with the Department of Psychology of the College of Science, the only
world-accredited college in UST at the time. Unwavering Interest In computer
studies followed her high academic stint, as she herself took endeavor into the
new and most challenging world of computers and the Information Technology. She
began her new career as a freelance programmer and trainor and had risen to the
directorship of the Training Division of the Philippine Business Automation
Systems in the computing city of Makati. At work, she was a brilliant organizer
and a most inspiring leader with that inherent capability to make things run
with perfection.
In 1989, she founded
COMTECH Software Center in Manila – a learning center for hands-on Computer
Operations, PC Troubleshooting, and Software Development. A nominee of the
secretariat in the Philippine Computer Society, she was frequently invited as
Guest Lecturer of the TLRC and GO-IT and in other big I.T. events in the late
80?s in Manila on issues of Documentation Writing, Programming Standards, and
Teaching Techniques in Computers and was duly honored. Born and raised in
Isabela, Basilan – she was a consistent honor and top student and a dynamic
leader in all her schooldays.
Her unified vision of
strengthening education in the remotest area with the most in-demand courses
impels her to unbolt another horizon, which surely is dominating the whole
world right now- NURSING!
Indeed, she has nurtured
this foresight as manifestly validated by her previous community and
educational outreach programs being fully implemented, not only governed by the
need to do so but by making it happen for a cohesive cause. As social change
molds education needs, she envisions answering the clamor and aspiration of the
health and non-health professionals in Basilan for a Nursing School in the
area. Hence, the development of THE MARIAM SCHOOL OF NURSING!
The Mariam School of Nursing envisions to educate nurses who will
practice professional nursing with creativity, compassion and commitment and to
be recognized as a leading center for nursing education in Western Mindanao.
Her determination is boundless as she continuously maintains her goal of
sustaining quality and growth among her fleet to better anchor education even
reaching beyond regional dominance.
